School Backpacks
In the good old days of the American West, children rambled off to school with a stack of books in one hand, and a pail of food in the other. Today’s children drive off to school with a cell phone in one hand and a credit card in the other. Where do all their school supplies go, you ask? In their backpacks of course!
The school backpack has evolved from its humble beginnings as a burlap sack, to its later form as a tote bag, and even further into a bag with straps. Sure, a burlap sack didn’t exactly come with pockets, zippers and caddies to hold all the child’s odds and ends, but it was durable. Today’s school backpacks are not only built to survive high falls, fire, water, and other daily abuses, they are also stylish and unreasonably priced.
School backpacks can come with: one strap or two, a myriad of different
colors, mesh pockets, see-through pouches, stripes, designs, logos,
cell phone pockets, change pockets, large book compartments, and makeup
bags! What kid wouldn’t want to go to school with one of these bags
slung over their shoulders?
Not only are school backpacks stylish, they are also versatile. Backpacks aren’t just for school anymore. Hikers buy them, frequent flyers buy them, and regular people who just need something larger than a purse buy them. With all of those pockets, it’s no wonder they are so handy to so many different kinds of people.
Now that you have been convinced to buy a school backpack, you are wondering how much you’re going to have to dish out for it. Well, the answer to that is simple - too much! The cost of material, labor, packaging, and shipping isn’t anywhere near the price the average American pays for them. If you want to get a reasonably priced backpack, wait until fall when the back-to-school sales are popping up everywhere. It is then safe to go shopping for a school backpack.
Almost every large scale retailer is going to have a sale on backpacks. Stop in and look through them with your kid. Maybe there is one in the pile that is so stylish and so reasonably priced that both parent and child will concede. Happy shopping!
