Charter Schools

In 1992 the first of many charter schools was founded, since that time over four thousand more charters schools have been formed within forty of the fifty states in the US. The ten states without have yet to set up laws for charter schools. Possibly in the near future charter schools will be coast to coast with no missing states.

One of the major reasons why charter schools are so popular is that they differ greatly from standard public schools. In a public school there is a lot of ruleas and regulations that need to be worked around, and no matter how poor the education level is in a public school it will always stay open. With charter schools its a great deal different, charter schools are based completely around the education and needs of the children who attendthe school. When charter schools plan to move in to a community they find out what kind of education is lacking in that area and they worker harder on that subject to bring the levels up in the community. Also when charter schools are opening they make a contract with the trustees of the school and set a level that they must meet or exceed this level of funding stops and the school closes. Charter schools are also greatly influenced by the parents and staff which again helps to fill specifc needs of the community. Aside from just helping the attending children charter schools are also known to clean up the area in which the reside by contacting local business and getting their help with cleaning up the areas as well as helping out the local familes.

As you can see there are many great things that charter schools help to achieve within a community. The chief goal still being to educate the young as well as the old. By having such high levels of excellence that need to be met the charter schools must work that much harder to educate and help the students as well as giving them all the individual attention they need.
