Class Rings

Class rings are memorable jewelry for them who achieve their high school, college, or university graduation educational goals.

A class ring is also referred as a graduate ring, senior ring, or grad ring.  The class ring is a ring worn on a student’s finger and by alumni to celebrate their graduation.

The United States Military Academy began the custom of using class rings in 1835.

The Significance of Class Rings
Class rings today are generally personalized according to each student’s criteria.  Years ago, class rings were according to the school's standard requirements; however each year the standard would change to distinguish between every graduation year. Male graduate's rings are larger than the female graduate’s rings. The color of the class ring is typically gold, but the color can differ depending on the school.  Students have a choice of ordering their ring in white gold, silver, or in various non-precious metal alloys.

Personalization Choices
The following include the items that can be personalized when ordering a class ring.  The student may choose:

• Color (White gold or gold are the traditional metals)
• A satin finish shows the entire ring in gold
• An antique finish uses a black enamel to highlight the details of the ring
• Many rings are available in two-tone (white and yellow Gold)
• Silver rings are available from some schools and companies
• Higher-end rings are sometimes offered in platinum
• Sometimes, rings are offered in non-precious metal alloys

The majority rings come with the name of the school engraved in a circular pattern around the stone.  This technique is simpler for the men's ring because of the larger size.
Rings can also have symbols such as zodiac signs, initials or a school symbol or crest.
