Dept of Ed
If you are planning to go on to further your education, then you may be looking for some financial aid to help you pay for your education. College today can be quite expensive and many people need some help to afford a college education. Even if you don’t have the money you need to go to college, more than likely you can get a Dept of Ed loan to help you out with the costs. There are many student loan options available from the Dept of Ed, but you will need to determine whether or not you are actually eligible for them.
While there are other types of financial aid from the Dept of Ed that are based on merit and financial need, many of the loans do not use these criteria. Student loans are usually available to almost anyone and you won’t have to worry about whether or not you have great credit or a job right at the moment. Loans for education are fairly easy to get; however, if you have defaulted on these types of loans in the past, you may not be eligible for another one at this point.
There is usually a cap to the amount you can borrow each year. For undergraduate school, some of the loans from the Dept of Ed can be no more than $4,000 per year. If you are in graduate school, then you will be allowed to borrow up to $6,000 each year. There are both Federal Stafford Loans available as well as Federal Perkins Loans. For either loan, you won’t have to worry about paying back the loan until after you have graduated from college and you are no longer going to school full time.
The goal of the Dept of Ed is to make sure that a higher education is available to everyone. The loans that are offered make it much easier to get a college education, even if you do not have all the funds yourself. So, if you want to get a good education, consider the loans that are available to you and get started as soon as possible.
