High school fashion is often a subject that dominates much of the spare time of teenaged girls and boys everywhere. Here are some tips that may be helpful to you in keeping your child from letting high school fashion take over their lives.

1. Keep a strict clothes budget. Perhaps the easiest way to keep your child from becoming too obsessed with high school fashion is to cut them off at their mall lifeline: simply do not give them the money to spend on bundles and bundles of clothes. Overindulging in clothes and high school fashion is a preoccupation that probably does not rank in importance in comparison to, say, academics, sports and other hobbies.

2. Speak to your child openly about your objections to certain high school fashions. Although it may seem like your objections and admonishments are fruitless and that they rarely go heard, it definitely still pays to sit down your child and talk openly about the pitfalls of going along with all sorts of high school fashion. Explain that high school fashion is transitory and always in a flux. Talk about how today's hot skirt will be tomorrow's embarrassment. Be as candid as possible when talking about your own personal experiences with high school fashion. 3. Keep an eye on high school fashion. It helps to relate to your child if you make an attempt to understand the latest high school fashion. It will be much easier for your child to relate to you, and vice versa, if you have a sense of what the kids are crazy for in terms of high school fashion.
