Higher Education Administration
As a current teacher or educator, do you find yourself wanting to further your career beyond the four walls of your classroom? With a degree in higher education administration, you can assume a more administrative role in a junior college, technical or trade school, university or even a private school. This degree would be earned in a Master’s or Doctoral program.

When you enroll in a higher education administration degree program, you can specialize in one or more of a variety of areas which includes general administration, personnel services for students, career advisement, institutional growth and more.
You will discover that with many universities offering some type of higher education administration degree, students often choose two specializations for the study program. For a Master’s degree, a 30-40 hour program of study is typically the norm while earning a Doctoral degree requires 70-80 hours, not including a thesis or project. If you are a current educator and cannot afford to take a leave of absence from work, you can likely find a degree program with flexibility that will allow you to take classes after work, on the internet, during the summer or even on weekends.
Within just a few short years part-time or a heavy year full-time, you can easily earn your graduate degree in higher education administration. Typically, once you have your degree, you could find a position in most upper level educational institutions. Just be prepared to serve a few years in an assistant capacity until you have had some real world working experience in your new studied field. In addition, it is imperative to continue your education so that you are always up on the latest ideas and practices in the field of higher education administration.
